Stéphane Joost

Stéphane Joost is a geographer and researcher at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he specializes in the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to molecular ecology. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Lausanne and a PhD from EPFL. His research focuses on how species adapt to their local environments by utilizing statistical models that connect genetic variability with environmental characteristics.Dr. Joost teaches courses on GIS, including "Geographical Information Systems - Part 1" and "Geographical Information Systems - Part 2," available in both English and French. His work integrates spatial statistics and ecological data to analyze the relationships between living organisms and their environments, contributing significantly to fields such as landscape genomics and spatial epidemiology. Through his teaching and research, Dr. Joost aims to enhance understanding of ecological dynamics and promote effective resource management using advanced geographic information technologies.
