Stefan Zeume

Stefan Zeume is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Gies College of Business, where he has been teaching since 2019. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from INSEAD, France, and a Master’s degree in Finance and Management from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. Prior to joining UIUC, he served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business. His academic background is complemented by practical experience in financial consulting and risk management, having worked with firms such as Detecon Switzerland and BearingPoint Germany.Professor Zeume's research interests lie at the intersection of corporate finance, governance, and regulation, with a particular focus on the darker aspects of finance, including corruption and organized crime. He teaches courses such as "Corporate Finance I: Measuring and Promoting Value Creation" and "Corporate Finance II: Financing Investments and Managing Risk," where he emphasizes real-world applications of financial theories.
