He earned his Ph.D. from Kyoto University in 2004 under the supervision of Prof. Susumu Kitagawa. Following his doctoral studies, he joined Prof. Matthew J. Rosseinsky's laboratory at the University of Liverpool as a postdoctoral research fellow. In 2005, he became an assistant professor in Prof. Ken Sakai's laboratory at Kyushu University and later started his independent career at the Institute for Molecular Science as an associate professor in 2011. In 2019, he transitioned to his current position at Osaka University.
