Sergio Savino, born in Naples, Italy on May 7th, 1975, serves as an Associate Professor at the Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Naples Federico II, where he has progressed through roles including research fellow (2013) and researcher (2017). His academic foundation includes an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (2001) and a Ph.D. in Thermomechanical System Engineering with specialization in applied mechanics and robotics (2005), both from the University of Naples Federico II. His extensive research portfolio encompasses dynamics, mechanical systems automation and control, robot mechanics, innovative trajectory planning for industrial robots, video applications for robotics, mechatronic systems for prosthetic use, object inertia parameter identification, and mechanical systems diagnostics and signal processing. Throughout his career, he has authored over 100 scientific publications and holds multiple patents, including innovations in surface scanning robots and prosthetic hand designs featuring single tie rod mechanisms and piezoresistive sensor activation. His notable patent contributions include a robot for scanning and replicating surfaces, an innovative hand prosthesis driven by a single inelastic tie rod, and an under-actuated hand prosthesis with lockable fingers activated by a spherical cap-shaped piezoresistive sensor, demonstrating his commitment to advancing both theoretical research and practical applications in mechanical engineering and robotics.
