Sergio Lacambra is a Principal Specialist in Disaster Risk Management at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), with over 25 years of experience across Latin America and the Caribbean. He has led major policy and investment loan programs in countries such as Peru, Colombia, and Panama, and currently oversees disaster contingency credit facilities in multiple nations. Sergio coordinates the IDB’s disaster risk management cluster and co-developed both the Disaster Risk Governance and Public Policy Index (iGOPP) and the disaster risk assessment methodology applied to IDB infrastructure projects. Before joining the IDB, he managed EU-funded humanitarian operations in Central and South America and held leadership roles in NGOs. He holds a Master’s in Economics from the University of London and degrees from the University of Bristol and University of Zaragoza.
