Cornell UniversityDr. Sean Quallen serves as an Instructional Designer at the University of Idaho's Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), bringing a unique combination of engineering expertise and educational innovation to higher education. With a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering earned in 2015, he has successfully transitioned from teaching engineering courses to designing comprehensive educational experiences. As the newest member of UI's CETL instructional design team, he specializes in developing accessible and evidence-based online courses, managing a video production studio for faculty content creation, and fostering collaboration with the university's IT department. His engineering background enhances his ability to create effective technical education solutions, as evidenced by his contributions to the mechanical engineering program's capstone projects. Dr. Quallen's work focuses on bridging the gap between technical expertise and pedagogical innovation, regularly conducting workshops to help faculty enhance their teaching methods. His commitment to educational excellence is complemented by his personal interests in family time, cycling, and following Seattle Kraken hockey, bringing a well-rounded perspective to his role in advancing higher education teaching and learning.
