Scott Solomon

Dr. Scott Solomon is an Associate Teaching Professor at Rice University, where he specializes in ecology, evolutionary biology, and scientific communication. He holds a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior from the University of Texas at Austin, where his research focused on the evolutionary basis of biodiversity in the Amazon Basin. In addition to his teaching role, Dr. Solomon serves as a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History. His extensive experience includes working as a visiting researcher at various institutions and teaching field biology in diverse environments, such as the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory and the rainforests of Belize.Dr. Solomon teaches several online courses, including Introduction to Biology: Biodiversity, Introduction to Biology: Ecology, and Introduction to Biology: Evolution. He has authored multiple books, including Future Humans: Inside the Science of Our Continuing Evolution, and has developed educational content for platforms like The Great Courses.
