Sarah Hammer

Sarah Hammer serves as the Senior Director of the Alternative Investments Initiative at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, where she focuses on private equity, hedge funds, venture capital, and wealth management. In this role, she collaborates with practitioners, alumni, students, policymakers, and academics to enhance understanding and engagement in these sectors. Additionally, she is an adjunct professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, teaching a course on the transformation of the financial sector. Hammer has extensive experience in financial services, having held leadership positions at prominent firms such as Vanguard Group, PIMCO, JP Morgan Chase, BlackRock, and Tudor Investments.Hammer earned her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and an M.B.A. from Wharton. She also completed a Master of Studies at Oxford University, where her dissertation focused on the legal rights of children. As a Harry S. Truman Scholar and a member of Global Board Ready Women, she is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion within finance. At Wharton, she teaches courses like "Cryptocurrency and Blockchain: An Introduction to Digital Currencies," sharing her expertise in emerging financial technologies with students.
