Dr. Sara Marks is an environmental engineer with extensive experience in water quality and sanitation issues, particularly in developing countries. She is the Group Leader of the Water Supply and Treatment group at Eawag, where her current projects focus on building rural communities' capacity to monitor drinking water quality in Nepal and evaluating the health and environmental impacts of water services in Burkina Faso. Dr. Marks received her PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Stanford University, where her research emphasized the importance of community ownership in sustaining water systems.With over 15 years of applied research experience, Dr. Marks has worked on various international projects and previously served as a postdoctoral scholar at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is passionate about education and teaches the course "Introduction to Household Water Treatment and Safe Storage" on Coursera, aiming to advance discussions on global water and sanitation challenges.
