Sampurna Arya

Dr. Sampurna Arya serves as an Assistant Professor at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, bringing over 16 years of diverse experience spanning research, teaching, and industry. After earning degrees from the Indian School of Mines (BS) and the University of Kentucky (MS '13, PhD '18), she has established herself as an expert in mining engineering and data analysis. Her research focuses on machine learning applications in mineral resource estimation, mine ventilation, and mining safety. Her industrial experience includes a successful tenure as junior manager with the Steel Authority of India Limited, where she developed valuable leadership skills. Her excellence in education was recognized with the Teacher of the Year award in 2020, reflecting her commitment to innovative teaching methods and student success. Her research has garnered significant attention with over 300 citations, particularly in areas such as dust control technology and computational fluid dynamics applications in mineral processing.
