Dr. Sameen Siddiqi is the Professor and Chair of the Department of Community Health Sciences at Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. He has previously worked for 16 years with the World Health Organization, where he served as Director of Health System Development for the Eastern Mediterranean Region, focusing on universal health coverage and health systems in conflict-affected areas. Dr. Siddiqi has also been involved in the Commission on Social Determinants of Health and has served as WHO’s Representative to Lebanon and Iran. With a fellowship in internal medicine and advanced degrees in public health, he has over two decades of experience advising lower- and middle-income countries on strengthening health systems. His research interests include health system governance, public-private partnerships, and the quality and safety of care. Dr. Siddiqi has numerous publications and serves on various international boards and committees, including the WHO’s Global Academy Quality Committee. He teaches courses such as "Operational Research for Humanitarians."
