Diederick E. Grobbee is a Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the University Medical Center Utrecht and holds the title of Distinguished University Professor of International Health Sciences and Global Health at Utrecht University. He founded the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care and served as its director for 14 years. Grobbee has an MD from Utrecht University and a PhD in Epidemiology from Erasmus University Rotterdam. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine, he became a full professor and has held visiting professorships at Harvard and the University of Sydney. He is Chief Scientific Officer of Julius Clinical Research and chairs the Center for Circulatory Health at UMC Utrecht. Grobbee is a fellow of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences and a past president of the Netherlands Epidemiological Association. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation. He directs the MSc Epidemiology program at Utrecht University and has authored over 850 scientific papers, supervising more than 100 PhD students.
