Gerontological Nursing Expert and Digital Health Innovator

The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityDr. Rick Kwan currently serves as Professor and Associate Dean of Programs at the School of Nursing, Tung Wah College, where he has advanced from his previous role as Assistant Professor at Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His expertise spans gerontological nursing, digital health interventions, and cognitive health, with particular focus on using technology to improve elderly care. Recently inducted into the 2024 Class of Fellows of the American Academy of Nursing, his research has produced over 85 peer-reviewed publications and secured more than HKD 60 million in research funding. As Deputy Director of the Digital Mental Health Translational Research Centre and Visiting Professor at both Zunyi Medical University and Huizhou Health Science and Technology College, he pioneers innovative approaches to elderly care, including the development of AI systems for dementia risk assessment and virtual reality applications in interprofessional education. His work combines clinical expertise with technological innovation, particularly in developing e-health solutions for elderly individuals with cognitive impairments and creating virtual reality tools for healthcare education.
