Dr. Richard A. Stempniak is an Associate Professor in the Engineering Technology Department at the State University of New York, Buffalo State, where he has been a faculty member for 44 years. He holds both a B.S. Ed. and M.S. Ed. from SUNY Buffalo State, as well as a Ph.D. in Educational Organization, Administration and Policy with a focus on Safety Studies Curriculum Development from SUNY Buffalo. In addition to his academic career, Dr. Stempniak has spent 25 years consulting in the aerospace industry, applying his expertise to enhance safety practices.Dr. Stempniak has made significant contributions to the field of safety studies and engineering education, serving on the editorial board for the Professional Safety Journal, published by the American Society of Safety Engineers. He co-authored "The Safety Professionals Handbook," which has been influential in shaping safety practices in various industries. Recognized for his contributions to safety, he was named the 1999 Safety Professional of the Year by the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers. Currently, he teaches courses such as "Safety in the Utility Industry," aiming to equip students with essential knowledge and skills to promote safety in their future careers.
