Rebecca Vieyra

Rebecca Vieyra is the Director of Global Initiatives for PhET Interactive Simulations at the University of Colorado Boulder. With a robust background in education, she has previously managed the Inter-American Teacher Education Network for the Organization of American States and served as K-12 Program Manager for the American Association of Physics Teachers. As a former high school physics teacher, Rebecca earned her Ph.D. in science education from the University of Maryland and has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching.In her current role, Rebecca supports PhET's international strategy and programming, focusing on enhancing STEM education through interactive simulations. She teaches several courses related to STEM education, such as "Activity Design with PhET Simulations for STEM Education" and "Introduction to PhET Simulations for STEM Education." Her commitment to improving educational practices extends globally, as she collaborates with educators to implement innovative teaching strategies that leverage technology in classrooms. Residing in Washington, D.C., she continues to impact science education through her leadership and advocacy for effective teaching practices.
