Harvard UniversityRachelle Gaudet is a Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University, specializing in biochemistry, structural biology, ion channels and transporters, and antigen processing. She earned her B.Sc. in Biochemistry from Université de Montréal, her Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, and completed her postdoctoral work at Harvard. Since joining Harvard’s faculty in 2002, Dr. Gaudet has conducted pioneering research in the structural biology of membrane proteins, using x-ray crystallography and biochemistry to reveal the molecular mechanisms underlying transport and signaling proteins involved in immunity, neuronal development, pain perception, and hearing. She teaches biochemistry and physical chemistry for the life sciences and is the author of influential works such as “Structure of a force-conveying cadherin bond essential for inner-ear mechanotransduction” (Nature, 2012), “The ankyrin repeats of TRPV1 bind multiple ligands and modulate channel sensitivity” (Neuron, 2007), and “Distinct structural and functional properties of the ATPase sites in an asymmetric ABC transporter” (Molecular Cell, 2006).
