Imperial College LondonProfessor Paul Aylin is a distinguished academic in the field of Epidemiology and Public Health at Imperial College London, where he has been a faculty member since 1997 and was appointed Professor in 2014. He trained in medicine at the University of Dundee and later specialized in Public Health, working as a Medical Statistician at the Office for National Statistics. His research focuses on healthcare performance and safety, utilizing routinely collected clinical data to analyze variations in quality and outcomes. Aylin leads various initiatives, including a theme within the NIHR Patient Safety Research Collaboration and projects related to healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance. He has contributed significantly to public health through innovative statistical methods and has been involved in high-profile inquiries, including those related to patient mortality. Additionally, he serves as a non-executive director on the board of the West London NHS Trust and co-directs the online Global Master of Public Health program launched in 2019.
