Prof. Vic Murray, PhD

Prof. Vic Murray is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria, specializing in organizational behavior and nonprofit management. With a career spanning several decades, he previously directed the Voluntary Sector Management Program at York University, where he developed Canada’s first certificate and master’s level programs in nonprofit leadership. He has authored numerous books and articles focused on board governance, strategic planning, and inter-organizational collaboration.Murray's current research includes a longitudinal study on the impact of self-assessment of governance performance in nonprofit organizations, which he conducts alongside Dr. Yvonne Cafik Harrison. He teaches various courses on Coursera, including "Introduction to the Nonprofit Sector" and "Managing Board Change for Higher Levels of Leadership and Governance Effectiveness," aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of nonprofit boards.
