Prof. Kenneth Hsien-yung Pai

Prof. Kenneth Hsien-yung Pai, also known as 白先勇, is a renowned writer, playwright, and producer of Kunqu, currently serving as the Wei Lun Professor of Humanities at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. His acclaimed works, including novels and short stories, have been translated into multiple languages and adapted for film and stage, showcasing his significant impact on contemporary literature. Prof. Pai has maintained a long-standing collaboration with CUHK, where he has contributed as an adjudicator for literary awards and as a guest speaker at workshops. In recognition of his exceptional literary achievements and support for the university, he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Literature degree. His dedication to promoting Kunqu culture is evident through his involvement in various educational initiatives and productions that celebrate this traditional art form.
