Pinar Akman

Prof. Dr. Pinar Akman is a prominent academic at Erasmus University Rotterdam, specializing in EU, UK, and global competition law and policy, as well as the intersections of law and technology, contract law, consumer law, and law and economics, including behavioral economics. Her interdisciplinary research has been widely published in esteemed journals across law, economics, and political science. Dr. Akman's teaching includes courses on EU and global competition law and policy, focusing on their implications for UK law. She played a key role in securing over £4 million in funding for the Centre for Competition Policy at the University of East Anglia and served as Director of the Centre for Business Law and Practice at Leeds. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to research, she received the Philip Leverhulme Prize in Law in 2017, utilizing the award to investigate competition law's application in online technology markets amidst active EU enforcement efforts.
