University of PennsylvaniaPhyllis Solomon is a distinguished Professor in the School of Social Policy & Practice and Professor of Social Work in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania. Her internationally recognized research focuses on clinical services and service systems for adults with severe mental illness and their families, including psychiatric rehabilitation programs and the intersection of mental health and criminal justice systems. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications, six edited books, and more than 36 book chapters, she has made significant contributions to mental health policy and practice. Her pioneering work includes one of the first influential studies on consumer-provided mental health services in the 1990s. Her excellence has been recognized through numerous prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Career Achievement Award from the Society of Social Work and Research, the University Provost Award for PhD Mentoring, and the Knee/Wittman Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award in Mental Health Policy and Practice. She was inducted in the first cohort of the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare and has extensively lectured and consulted internationally, particularly in Asia. In 2015, she delivered the Annual Sidney Ball Lecture at Oxford University, further cementing her status as a global authority in mental health services research
