Professor Philip D. Jaffé is a Full Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Centre for Children’s Rights Studies (CIDE) at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. His research focuses on a rights-based approach to monitoring institutions where children are deprived of liberty, children's participation in traditional justice systems, and understanding children's perspectives regarding their journeys to and from school. His work also addresses critical issues such as the prevalence of child sexual abuse, school bullying, children's perceptions of their rights, and child and youth policy. A licensed psychotherapist and court-appointed expert in legal cases involving children, Professor Jaffé co-founded the Swiss Society of Legal Psychology in 1994, serving as its first president for a decade. He contributed to the Council of Europe's drafting of the 2010 Guidelines on Child-Friendly Justice and currently serves on the board of Pro Juventute, Switzerland's leading organization dedicated to advocating for children and young people. His extensive experience in both academic research and practical applications underscores his commitment to advancing children's rights and well-being.
