Delft University of TechnologyDr. Pedro P. Vergara serves as an Assistant Professor at TU Delft's Intelligent Electrical Power Grids (IEPG) group, where he combines expertise in electrical distribution systems with advanced mathematical programming and artificial intelligence. After completing his dual PhD from the University of Campinas and the University of Southern Denmark, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Eindhoven University of Technology from 2019 to 2020. His research focuses on developing innovative mathematical models and data-driven control approaches for electrical distribution systems, particularly addressing the integration of low-carbon energy resources like PVs, EVs, and electric heat pumps. As an IEEE Senior Member, he has made significant contributions to the field through his work on optimal power flow, distributed control strategies, and machine learning applications in power systems. His research portfolio includes groundbreaking work in PV inverter control, microgrid optimization, and reinforcement learning for power systems, with his publications garnering over 1,000 citations. Currently, he leads research initiatives in the RVO-funded ROBUST project and the H2020 MAGPIE project, collaborating with Dutch and European partners while teaching courses in electrical power systems and machine learning workflows at TU Delft.
