Pedro J.J. Alvarez is a prominent figure in the field of civil and environmental engineering, currently serving as the George R. Brown Professor at Rice University. He also holds the position of Director at the NSF Engineering Research Center on Nanotechnology-Enabled Water Treatment (NEWT).
