A Leading Expert in Port City Development and Urban Regeneration

Delft University of TechnologyPaolo De Martino is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University IUAV of Venice, following the completion of his PhD through a dual program between TU Delft and the University of Naples Federico II. His research journey began with his architecture degree from the University of Naples Federico II in 2008, followed by practical experience in architectural heritage and urban regeneration in Naples. His doctoral research, titled "Land in Limbo," investigated port cities from spatial and governance perspectives, analyzing how various actors shape spatial development. Since moving to Delft in 2015, he has made significant contributions to understanding port-city relationships, particularly focusing on the intersection of urban planning and maritime development. At TU Delft, he has taught several design studios including "Architecture and Urbanism beyond oil" and "Designing Public Spaces for Maritime Mindsets," while also contributing to two MOOCs on port cities and water heritage
