Dr. Pamela Scully is a Professor of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and African Studies at Emory University. She is the co-author of Sara Baartman and the Hottentot Venus: A Ghost Story and a Biography and is working on a biography of Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Her research focuses on sexual violence, transitional justice, and feminist theory. Dr. Scully directs Emory’s Center for Faculty Development and Excellence, teaches courses on gender and justice, and collaborates with The Carter Center on poverty and development issues. She also serves on the editorial boards of several academic journals
