Delft University of TechnologyPablo van der Lugt serves as a Research Fellow for biobased building at both AMS Institute and TU Delft's Department of Urbanism, while also working as a senior consultant in the mass timber and engineered bamboo industry. After graduating with honors from TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture in 2003, he completed his PhD focusing on the environmental impact and commercialization potential of industrial bamboo materials compared to engineered wood. His expertise spans biobased building materials, circular economy, and sustainable construction, with particular emphasis on mass timber and engineered bamboo applications. He has authored several influential books including "Tomorrow's Timber" and "Booming Bamboo," which explore the potential of biobased building materials. His work has gained international recognition, leading to speaking engagements at major events including the International Climate Conferences (COP 21, 24, and 26). As an ambassador for biobased building at AMS Institute and TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture, he focuses on promoting the transition toward a circular, bio-based, and low-carbon built environment through innovative material solutions.
