Orin Starn is a leading expert in the field of sport studies and an anthropologist by training. He has conducted research in Peru, Turkey, Italy, and on Native American culture and politics. Starn has been featured on ESPN, NPR, and in the New York Times, and has written extensively on topics such as the Olympics, soccer, basketball, and more. His most recent book focuses on the superstar golfer Tiger Woods. A former chair of the Department of Cultural Anthropology at Duke University, Starn has received the university's undergraduate teaching award. His lecture course on sports and society at Duke is highly popular, often filling to overflow.
