Distinguished Cariology Researcher and Dental Education Innovator
Dr. Ollie Yiru Yu serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in Cariology at the Faculty of Dentistry, The University of Hong Kong, where she leads the Cariology discipline program and coordinates comprehensive cariology education. Her research focuses on critical areas of dental science, including caries microbiology, detection, prevention, and minimal intervention dentistry, resulting in over 50 peer-reviewed publications and one patent. Her scholarly work has garnered significant attention, with her most cited papers focusing on remineralization of enamel with silver diamine fluoride and dental biofilm models for cariology research. As associate editor of Frontiers in Oral Health and editorial board member of BMC Oral Health and Scientific Reports, she plays a key role in shaping cariology research directions. Her contributions to dental education and research have been recognized through multiple international awards, while her service extends to the Society of Preventive Dentistry of Hong Kong as a council member. Her current work includes supervising postgraduate students and reviewing for major international conferences, including the International Association of Dental Research and the Asian Academy of Preventive Dentistry.
