Nicholas S. Reed

Dr. Nicholas S. Reed, AuD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and holds a joint appointment in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He earned his clinical doctorate in audiology from Towson University and his research doctorate from Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Reed is the director of the Audiology Core at the Johns Hopkins Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health, where he integrates hearing measures into large epidemiological studies and clinical trials. His research focuses on the impact of hearing loss on health outcomes among older adults, exploring areas such as healthcare utilization, cognitive decline, and the effectiveness of hearing interventions. He advocates for improved access to hearing care and has worked on innovative models to enhance communication between patients and healthcare providers. Dr. Reed's work is informed by his experiences as a clinical audiologist and aims to create a more equitable healthcare system for individuals with hearing loss.
