Delft University of TechnologyNelson Mota serves as an Associate Professor at TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, where he leads the Global Housing research group and educational program. His academic journey includes a professional degree in Architecture and an Advanced Master's in Architecture, Territory, and Memory from the University of Coimbra, followed by a PhD from TU Delft in 2014 with a dissertation exploring the intersection between vernacular practices and housing architecture. As a founding partner of comoco arquitectos, his practical work has earned recognition including the 2013 Portuguese National Prize for Architecture in Wood. His contributions to architectural education and research were recently recognized with the 2022 edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions in Online Teaching and Learning, shared with colleagues for their Global Housing Design course. His expertise spans housing design, architectural ethnography, and vernacular practices, reflected in his publications including "A Arquitectura do Quotidiano" (2010) and co-editorship of "Global Housing: Dwelling in Addis Ababa" (2020).
