The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversitySiu King Chung serves as Associate Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Design, where he has established himself as a transformative figure in art education and community engagement through his innovative approaches to social design and cultural preservation. His leadership as President of the Hong Kong Society for Education in Art (1998-2001) marked a significant period in shaping Hong Kong's art and design education, while his co-founding of the "Designs You Don't Know What to Do With Association" and the "Community Museum Project" in 2002 and 2003 demonstrated his commitment to connecting design with community needs. His work spans multiple domains including art and design education, information design, indigenous creativity, vernacular design, upcycling initiatives, and material culture studies, with particular emphasis on visualizing and preserving local knowledge through exhibitions, publications, and cultural tourism projects. As Project Leader and former Associate Dean of the School of Design, he recently curated the "Time-capsuled Histories: Six Decades of PolyU Design" exhibition, highlighting the institution's pivotal role in Hong Kong's design evolution while continuing to advocate for innovative approaches to community-centered design education and practice.
