Islamic Cultural Studies and Religious Diversity Scholar
Dr. Mourad Laabdi is an Assistant Professor of Islamic Culture at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University. His extensive academic background includes a Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Toronto and dual master's degrees in Cultural Analysis from the University of Amsterdam and Cultural Studies from Université Mohamed Ben Abdellah in Fes. His research expertise centers on premodern Islamic intellectual history, with particular focus on juristic disagreement and the social construction of religious diversity in premodern Muslim societies. His scholarly contributions have been published in prestigious international journals including the Oxford Journal of Islamic Studies, Islam and Muslim-Christian Relations, and the American Journal of Islam and Society, establishing him as a significant voice in the study of religious diversity and Islamic cultural history
