Michal Frenkel

Professor Michal Frenkel is a prominent scholar at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Department of Sociology and Anthropology, where she served as department chair from 2018 to 2022. Her research expertise centers on power relations and gender intersectionality in organizational contexts, with particular focus on how organizations exert control and how marginalized groups demonstrate agency and resistance. As a public sociologist, she actively works to implement inclusive employment practices and advocates for family-friendly policies in organizations. She teaches the widely-recognized course "Israel State and Society," which provides comprehensive insights into Israeli society from political, social, economic, and cultural perspectives. Her academic contributions include numerous publications in prestigious journals, and she has mentored over 50 graduate and post-doctoral students.
