Michaéla Schippers

Michaéla C. Schippers is a Professor of Behavior and Performance Management at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, where she has been a faculty member since 2003. She holds a PhD from the Psychology Department at the Free University in Amsterdam. Her research interests encompass goal setting, team reflexivity, academic performance, and the concept of ikigai, which refers to finding purpose in life. Schippers is known for coining the term "life crafting," a method designed to enhance individual performance and happiness. She serves as the academic director of the Erasmus Centre for Study and Career Success and has published extensively in leading academic journals, including the Annual Review of Psychology and the Journal of Management. Her work has garnered media attention, with interviews featured in outlets such as CNN and Oprah Magazine. Schippers has also been a visiting scholar at Harvard Business School and is recognized for her contributions to understanding how positive psychology can optimize performance in various contexts.
