Associate Professor of Biology at MIT
Michael Hemann is an Associate Professor of Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a member of the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research. His lab focuses on understanding why many human cancers do not respond to chemotherapy, often developing drug resistance over time. By utilizing high-throughput screening technology alongside mouse stem cell reconstitution and tumor transplantation systems, Hemann's research aims to uncover the genetic basis for this resistance. The ultimate goal is to identify novel cancer drug targets and develop strategies for tailoring existing therapies to exploit the specific vulnerabilities of different malignancies.
