Professor Michael Dennin has been a faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of California, Irvine (UCI) for 18 years, currently serving as Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning and Dean of the Division of Undergraduate Education. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Princeton University and both a Master's and Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His research focuses on the dynamics of complex fluids, including foams and Langmuir monolayers, with applications in oil recovery and pharmaceuticals. A recipient of multiple UCI Senate awards for teaching, service, and research, he is also a Sloan Research Fellow and a Research Corporation Cottrell Scholar. Professor Dennin is committed to public science outreach, having taught several Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and appeared on programs such as Science of Superman and Ancient Aliens. He recently published Divine Science: Finding Reason at the Heart of Faith, exploring the intersection of science and faith. He teaches courses like Emergent Phenomena in Science and Everyday Life, engaging students in understanding complex scientific concepts through real-world applications.
