Dr. Mia Minnes is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), where she focuses on the intersection of mathematics and computer science. With a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Cornell University, Dr. Minnes specializes in the theory of computation, mathematical logic, and algorithmic randomness. Her research has garnered support from several National Science Foundation grants, and she is dedicated to developing innovative curricula that enhance students' understanding of algorithms and problem-solving techniques. Throughout her career, she has taught a diverse range of courses, from introductory classes to advanced seminars, and has received accolades for her teaching effectiveness, including the Best Teacher award for 2013-2014 in the Jacobs School of Engineering.In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Dr. Minnes is actively involved in mentoring students and supporting initiatives aimed at increasing access to computer science education for underserved populations.
