Delft University of TechnologyMartijn Wisse (born 1976) serves as full professor of Biorobotics at TU Delft's Department of Cognitive Robotics, Faculty of Mechanical, Maritime and Materials Engineering. His academic journey at TU Delft includes an MSc (2000) and PhD (2004) in mechanical engineering, focusing on bio-inspired robotics. His research evolution spans from passive dynamic walking robots to current work on robot manipulators for agile manufacturing. As co-founder of the TU Delft Robotics Institute, he leads research in underactuated grasping, open-loop stable manipulator control, and robotic systems design. His team takes inspiration from biology to improve robot motion, with applications ranging from walking robots to mobile manipulators. He has co-founded multiple spin-off companies in agile robotics and coordinates several national and international research projects, including "Factory-in-a-Day." His work bridges fundamental research with practical applications in dynamic motions and agile manufacturing.
