Martial Haeffelin is a senior research scientist at École Polytechnique with over 25 years of experience in atmospheric remote sensing. His career highlights include conducting pivotal research on the impact of clouds on the global Earth radiation budget during his tenure at NASA Langley Research Center from 1993 to 2001. In 2002, he established a surface-based atmospheric observation program for CNRS-IPSL and developed a world-class atmospheric observatory at École Polytechnique, leading this initiative for 15 years. Currently, he serves as the Deputy Director of the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace, overseeing Earth Observations and acting as the scientific director of ACTRIS-FR, a French research infrastructure dedicated to supporting climate research.Dr. Haeffelin's research focuses on cloud physical processes, remote sensing technologies, and their effects on solar resources for photovoltaic energy production. He has authored and co-authored over 80 peer-reviewed articles, contributing significantly to advancements in understanding atmospheric dynamics and improving climate modeling.
