Dr. Marlies Reinders is a Nephrologist at Universiteit Leiden, specializing in alloimmunity and renal transplantation. With extensive experience in leukocyte-endothelial cell biology, she conducted research at the Transplant Immunology Laboratory at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Reinders is a member of the EU-financed STELLAR research consortium, which focuses on developing stem cell-based therapies as alternatives to renal replacement therapy. As the principal investigator of clinical trials involving mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) treatment for transplant recipients, she integrates scientific innovation with education by organizing the new curriculum for the Faculty of Medicine at Leiden University.
