Delft University of TechnologyMark Theunissen serves as Lecturer at TU Delft's Ethics and Philosophy of Technology Department, bringing interdisciplinary expertise through his MSc in mathematics and MA in philosophy from the University of Amsterdam, and PhD in philosophy of social science from the New School of Social Research. His academic background combines formal mathematical training with philosophical inquiry, particularly in social science methodology. Prior to TU Delft, he spent five years teaching at The New School's Parsons School of Design, where he developed courses in leadership, business ethics, and design ethics. His practical experience includes co-curating and leading interactive design for the Jones Beach Energy and Nature Center in Long Island (2020-21). Currently, his research focuses on three main areas: AI ethics, philosophy of data, and the ethics and epistemology of design and engineering practices, with particular emphasis on explainable AI in medical contexts and institutional frameworks for technological implementation.
