Gies College of Business at the University of IllinoisMark Peecher is a distinguished Professor of Accountancy and the Deloitte Professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he also serves as the Executive Associate Dean of Faculty and Research. He obtained his Ph.D. in Accountancy from the same university in 1994, following a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy. Peecher's research primarily focuses on auditors' decision-making processes, particularly concerning consequentiality and justification in auditing. He has published extensively in leading academic journals, contributing valuable insights into audit quality, materiality judgments, and the effects of various interventions on auditor behavior. Additionally, he has held several leadership roles within the university, including Director of the Ph.D. Program in Accountancy and Academic Director of the Center for Professional Responsibility in Business and Society.
