Marcy McGinnis is a co-founder of Exact Communication and a certified professional career, leadership, and communication coach. With over three decades of experience in broadcast media, she held senior leadership roles at CBS News, where she rose from an entry-level secretary to the #2 position in the news division. During her tenure, McGinnis was responsible for worldwide news coverage and newsgathering, overseeing major events such as 9/11, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and Hurricane Katrina. As the London Bureau Chief, she won three Emmy Awards for her coverage of significant stories, including the death of Princess Diana.After her time at CBS News, McGinnis became the founding associate dean of the Stony Brook University School of Journalism, where she trained future journalists and contributed to the establishment of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science. In her current role at the Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion at UC San Diego, she teaches courses on effective communication with the public. McGinnis is dedicated to helping professionals at all career stages enhance their leadership skills and public speaking abilities, ensuring they can communicate effectively across various platforms
