Marc Soutter

Marc Soutter is an engineer in environmental sciences and holds a doctorate in technical sciences. He has extensive experience in research and teaching, particularly at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and 2ie, focusing on soil science, hydrology, air pollution, water resource management, and the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for participatory planning. Since 2011, he has been a scientific collaborator and lecturer at the GIS Laboratory at EPFL.Soutter teaches courses on GIS, including "Geographical Information Systems - Part 1" and "Geographical Information Systems - Part 2," available in both English and French. His work emphasizes the importance of GIS in environmental management and resource planning, equipping students with the skills needed to address complex environmental challenges. Through his research and teaching, Marc Soutter aims to enhance understanding of how GIS can support sustainable development and participatory approaches to resource management.
