An Associate Professor at Politecnico di Milano, DICA since 2017, with the Scientific National Qualification for Full Professor since 2020, she obtained her PhD in Environmental Engineering in 2000. In 2011, she was a visiting scholar at Duke University, CEINT, North Carolina (USA). Since 2012, she has been responsible for the "Water Treatment" course and has been a member of the Faculty Board of the PhD program in Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering since 2019. Her research focuses on the entire water cycle, from source water to potable water, wastewater, and reuse, aiming to develop innovative concepts that integrate human activities with the environment. Her work emphasizes technologies such as disinfection, adsorption, and advanced oxidation processes, as well as modeling techniques to assess fate and risk in order to protect ecosystems and human health. She is actively involved in working groups focused on contaminants of emerging concern and pathogen control. She is the co-author of over 170 scientific publications, with 71 papers indexed in Scopus, 1,320 citations, and an H-index of 22 (as of December 2022). She also holds 2 patents.
