The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityProfessor Man-Sing Charles Wong has established himself as a leading expert in remote sensing and environmental science at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where he has risen through the ranks from Research Fellow to his current position as Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Construction and Environment. His academic journey includes a BSc, MPhil, and PhD in Remote Sensing and GIS from PolyU, complemented by a Fulbright scholarship at the University of Maryland's Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center. His research portfolio spans critical environmental areas including urban heat island effects, environmental quality assessment, landslide studies, vegetation monitoring, and air quality analysis. Professor Wong manages two NASA AERONET stations in Hong Kong and has received numerous prestigious accolades, including Faculty Awards for Outstanding Performance in Teaching, a Dean's Award for Outstanding Achievement in Research Funding, and international recognition such as the 2021 Geneva Inventions Expo Gold Medal. His expertise extends to smart city development, geographic information systems, and environmental monitoring, with successful funding from various sources including the UGC Teaching and Learning Funding Scheme, Collaborative Research Fund, and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charity Trust. Currently, he leads significant research initiatives including a study on carbon sequestration in Hong Kong's vegetation and continues to contribute to environmental science through his extensive publication record and innovative research approaches.
