Lowis Charfe is a qualified social worker whose career began as a Youth Offending Team (YOT) Officer in Manchester City Centre, where she supervised young people on court orders and worked to prevent re-offending. She then worked for Action for Children as a Leaving Care Social Worker, helping young people transition out of the care system into independent living and running a successful Supported Lodgings scheme. For the past four years, Lowis has been teaching in the School of Social Work, Care, and Community at UCLan, where she is currently the Course Leader for both the BA (Hons) in Social Pedagogy, Advocacy and Participation and the MA in Social Pedagogical Leadership. Additionally, she serves as a trustee for the Social Pedagogy Professional Association.
