University of MontrealLouise Millette serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil, Geological and Mining Engineering at Polytechnique Montréal, where she chaired the department from 2002 to 2021. After earning her bachelor's degree and PhD from Polytechnique, she spent 12 years at Bell Canada before returning to academia. Her most significant contributions include spearheading Polytechnique's sustainability initiatives, writing its first sustainability policy in 2004, and creating the Sustainability Office in 2013, which led to the institution achieving STARS Gold certification in 2019. As a Professional Engineer and Fellow of Engineers Canada, she has received numerous honors including being named Knight of the Ordre de Montréal and earning awards from the Quebec Minister of Education and Higher Education and the Quebec Business Women's Network. Her work focuses on integrating sustainability principles across the engineering curriculum, demonstrating her commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development in engineering education.
