His research portfolio spans multiple critical areas including geomechanics with injected fluids, mining ground control, and health and safety in the mining industry. His work extends to cutting-edge applications of data science and machine learning in the energy sector, intelligent mining automation, and rock mechanics. As a faculty member in UAF's College of Engineering and Mines, he focuses on crucial aspects of mining safety and efficiency, including ventilation optimization, nano-dust characterization and its health effects, and fluids transportation in unconventional oil and gas production. His research has garnered significant attention with over 600 citations, particularly his contributions to mine dust research and control technologies.
